Late 1880s early 1900s, from the most famous rug weaver of Iranian rugs, like Michealangelo or Picasso. Mohtasham does not use a signature because his weave is so distinct he does not need one. One thing that separates him from others is that he does the binding with silk, often purple. It is approximately 280 knots per square inch. This particular rug is not as finely woven as some of his smaller pieces but is still in excellent condition and for its size it is truly one of a kind.
